About Attorney Allan Elkins Jr.

Allan

Because They Deserve to Be Heard

For Allan L. Elkins, Jr., (A.J.) practicing law is about more than just legal strategy or courtroom wins. It’s about helping people who would otherwise be silenced. His work is rooted in a commitment to justice, especially for those whose voices are often drowned out by powerful corporations or systemic negligence. Whether researching complex legal issues, drafting high-stakes pleadings, or supporting trial teams in national litigation, A.J. brings precision and relentless focus to every case.

He believes that real change happens when lawyers are willing to do the hard, often unseen work: digging into records, connecting facts, and building cases that stand up in court. That’s what drew him to mass torts and public impact litigation. For A.J., the courtroom is only one place where justice takes shape. His work ensures that clients' voices are heard through the arguments, motions, and strategy that make their cases possible.

Building the Framework for Impact

A.J. grew up in the small town of Macon, Mississippi. From an early age, his parents recognized a knack for argument, and often joked that he was destined for a courtroom. That early instinct would eventually guide him toward a career in law, though not before developing a strong foundation in analytical thinking and public service.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts with honors in Economics from Mississippi State University in 2009, where he was drawn to the intersection of policy, systems, and individual outcomes. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2012. His academic training laid the groundwork for the research-intensive litigation he would later pursue, and helped shape his approach to building complex legal arguments with clarity and precision.

After graduating from law school, A.J. began his legal career at a small civil litigation firm in South Mississippi. From 2012 to 2017, he represented plaintiffs in a wide range of matters, including medical malpractice, product liability, and business disputes. He also handled civil rights cases under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983, where he advocated for individuals whose constitutional rights had been violated.

In addition to litigation, A.J. worked on wills, estates, and property law, gaining experience across multiple areas of civil practice. These early years shaped his versatility as a lawyer and gave him a strong sense of how the law can be used to resolve real problems for real people.

The work was demanding, but it reinforced a core belief that still drives him today: the law should serve the people, not just the powerful.

Role at McHugh Fuller Law Group

A.J. joined McHugh Fuller Law Group in 2017, bringing with him a strong foundation in civil litigation and a deep interest in high-impact cases. At the firm, his practice focuses on complex mass tort litigation, where his research and writing skills are central to building the legal framework behind large, multi-party cases.

He is a key part of the team’s infrastructure, often working behind the scenes to draft legal arguments, manage briefing schedules, and prepare appellate filings. His attention to detail and ability to distill complex issues into persuasive arguments have made him a trusted resource in some of the firm's most challenging cases.

At McHugh Fuller, A.J. found a professional home where precision, purpose, and persistence matter. His role may not always be visible in a courtroom, but his work drives the litigation forward and helps secure meaningful results for clients harmed by corporate negligence.

Notable Litigation Experience

A.J. has played an integral role in several major mass tort cases that have shaped the national legal landscape. At McHugh Fuller, he has worked alongside lead trial lawyers and national leadership committees to advance litigation against some of the most powerful corporate defendants in the country.

In the National Prescription Opiate Litigation, A.J. worked closely with members of the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee to prosecute public nuisance claims on behalf of hundreds of cities, counties, and states. His work supported the bellwether trials that helped drive more than 60 billion dollars in settlements from opioid manufacturers, distributors, and dispensers.

He was also a key part of the legal team in an environmental tort case against Gopher Resource, a lead smelting company with operations in Florida and Minnesota. A.J. helped develop the legal strategy that resulted in a multi-million dollar class settlement for workers, families, and nearby residents affected by toxic exposure.

Currently, A.J. is representing clients in the national insulin pricing litigation, targeting pharmacy benefit managers and drug manufacturers accused of inflating insulin costs. These cases are complex, with broad public health implications. For A.J., they are a continuation of the firm’s mission: to hold corporations accountable when profit comes at the public’s expense.

Grounded in Purpose, Focused on Impact

For A.J., practicing law is not about recognition or the spotlight. It is about doing the work that matters. Whether he is researching precedent, drafting arguments, or preparing for the next stage of a national case, he takes pride in knowing that his efforts help bring justice to those who need it most.

He is particularly drawn to litigation that serves the public interest, such as cases that hold corporations accountable and push for changes that protect communities. Whether advocating for families harmed by corporate misconduct or government entities burdened by public health crises, A.J. approaches each case with the same commitment to thoroughness and integrity.

Outside the office, A.J. and his wife, Jessica, an elementary school teacher, live a grounded life centered around family. They are raising their daughter Evelyn and their two Labradors, Goose and Duck. That balance between professional purpose and personal values is part of what drives A.J.’s long-term dedication to the law.

For him, the greatest reward is knowing the work he does can help someone find justice when it matters most.
