Description: 
David Fritzgerald was admitted to RHD Memorial Medical Center for routine ulcer surgery Aug. 29, 2003. Shortly after the procedure, he developed a fever and chest congestion and began to cough up thick, green mucus. Mr. Fritzgerald contracted a blood infection and went into septic shock. He also contracted MRSA that was never diagnosed as such. As a result, he was treated for other infections while his condition deteriorated to the point that he had to have several amputations.
