Description:
Julie H. Bailey, 60, suffered from advanced Alzheimer's disease, causing her to function at the intellectual level of a 2-year-old. She entered the Lewes Convalescent Center, a nursing home owned and operated by Beebe Medical Center. Five hours after her admission Bailey wandered from her room. Staff found her about four hours later locked in the freezer room of the facility's kitchen and frozen to the floor by her urine. Ms. Bailey suffered frostbite to her hands, feet and nose. She died after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
